Expectations

Expectations
we set for ourselves
we try a little harder
if at first we fail...

Expectations
of others
are harder to try
failure seems
unforgiving
disappointment has arrived

Expectations
are hopes in disguise
impatience in timing
assumption derived

  1. Bessye, well said. I have many expectations of myself, sometimes impossible to meet. I am more forgiving when others fail to meet my expectations of them.

  2. Hi RNSANE!
Expectations are a funny thing. No matter who sets them, we don't seem to be happy...maybe we shouldn't set them at all...hummmm. love hearing from you...

  3. The important thing to learn is that we need to shed all expectations of ourselves and others. Not only in our personal lives, but in the grand scheme of things. If we did not employ expectations, there would be no wars. We would live in a peaceful society. Expectations are born of ego and not the heart. That makes them a negative source of energy.

Okay, now that I'm off my soapbox, Bessye, fantastic prose and style - as always.

  4. Hi Joanne!
yes I agree, that's what destroys our forsight in others. It is truly a pure form of negativity. Yet our 'hopes' and 'wishes' still tend to control and create them. especially in the grand scheme of things! thanks Joanne. I so enjoy your comments.
