In The Shadows That Wait...
Short Story Fiction pg 4/12
Sal had thought he walked on water
for most of his upbringing. There was a time when Catherine had believed that
he loved her. At least was convinced of that. When the issue of his treatment
towards our marriage, against me, had been repeatedly pressured upon his
parents for so long, and so publicly, they had finally convinced, or
persuaded Sal to divorce.
He had never forgotten that, and
vowed this was unfinished business. Getting away as far as possible from this
life that consumed every waking moment, and what Sal's money bought, was the
only intention possible.
“It took me awhile to cut through
all the red tape, but I finally found you Catherine.” He stood there with such
triumph in his demeanor and voice. “I told you I would find you, and that day
has come.” I squirmed to sit up from the restraints that bounded my hands and
feet. “Catherine, my dear Catherine, I have made you uncomfortable.” “I suppose I
could loosen the mouth piece, after all you can’t be heard, “Let’s talk, it’s
been so long since we have spoken”. Catherine nodded her head in agreement,
though against her will of wanting to comply with his request. “I’ll loosen the
tie, but it goes right back on if you disobey me.”
Once Sal had removed the cloth
from Catherine’s jaw, she begged him for some water. “I suppose that’ll be
alright my love.” I do apologize for having kept you tied up all night, but
what was I to do my dear?” “I could not very well leave you unrestrained.” “I
needed you to get use to the idea that I am back!” Catherine watched as he
moved into the kitchen just feet away from her to get the water. Talking all
the while, stating his stand of his achievements of tracking capabilities. Sal
held the cup to her mouth as Catherine feverishly searched for the water with
her lips. “I need to go to the bathroom Sal, Catherine had stated.” “I have
taken precautions by checking the layout of the apartment Catherine while you
slept.” “I suppose I should have given you more money in our divorce, perhaps
you could have found a more suitable abode.” “At least the walls are so thick
with brick that you won’t be heard, I know how you like to scream when we make
love.”
“What do you want with me Sal?
Catherine had blurted out.” “Oh come now Catherine, you’re a bit cranky
obviously from no doubt sleeping on that horrible couch all night.”
“Let’s see if we can remedy all
that shall we?” With very precision moves, Sal proceeded to loosen the ties
that bounded Catherine’s hands together, then her feet. “You can go to the
bathroom now my sweet.” “I’ll be right outside the door waiting.” “Oh and
sweetie, I have removed any and all instruments of, well let’s say, that could be
detrimental to my life.” “Oh how I have missed you my dear Catherine…”

In The Shadows That Wait...
Short Story Fiction -page 3/12
Thursday morning had arrived and
as usual, Ted had arrived once again on time. Ted was eager to see if Catherine
was waiting at the bus stop. Much to his amaze, she was not there. This was so
unlike her. Ted thought of her as though she was his own daughter and concern
was now setting in. Tonight after shift, Ted thought he would stop by and check
to see if she was alright.
They had told each other about
their lives over the years and had become close as friends. Ted had asked
Catherine several times throughout the years if she would join him and his wife
for dinner, but Catherine always turned him down. Ted had not taken it
personally, he knew that Catherine stayed to herself mostly. She was quite
comfortable being alone. He always told her she was too young to be by herself
all the time. She needed to get out there and meet some friends. Catherine
would just stare ahead as if in a daze and ignore him. Ted would now get
through his day and return later to check on her. Slowly he pulled out away
from the curb and began his day.
Catherine awoke to a fuzzy head
and found herself disoriented. She stared about the room noticing the familiar
surroundings, her apartment though things were in dismay around the living
room. Her mouth was dry and bounded by a cloth pulled tightly around her head.
Her hands bound with some kind of rope, as she lied on the sofa. Lying there
cold and confused by the position she now found herself in.
Catherine then forced herself to
focus clearly on the situation at hand. Scared and alone she saw no one. Then
all of a sudden, she felt a cold hand brush her face from above her. Startled,
Catherine buried her head inward towards her chest. “Hello Catherine” said a
voice of familiarity. “Did you think that I would not find you?” Catherine knew
immediately that her efforts of changing her name and starting over had been
for nothing. She had tried so hard to stay out of everyone’s view for so long.
That is why she had not made any friends, or went out in public other than for
work. It was Sal, her ex-husband. Sal had used her as a punching bag, for the
first three years of their marriage. Catherine was so young when she had
married Sal, not that she was much older now.
Sal had grown up in a very
influential family in town. His parents were of strict upbringing. The usual
story of what Prestige and money brought, and how it ruled your life in the
social world. The love was scarce, but the money spoke volumes to anyone who
would listen.

In The Shadows That Wait...
Short Story - Fiction page 2/12 continued
It was a cold and rather windy morning,
arriving from last night. September could be a beautiful fall day or feel as though
winter was coming early. Ted knew she would be cold standing there waiting for
him, so he tried his best to arrive a few minutes earlier than usual. When Ted
arrived, Catherine was nowhere in sight. Perhaps she was running late this
morning. Ted waited at the stop patiently stalling. The other passengers would
begin to get antsy if he waited too long, as they too, had places to go. It was
now going onto 6:55 and Ted could no longer wait for Catherine. He slowly
started to pull out into traffic wondering if perhaps she was sick.
Catherine had decided to go out
for a bite the night before with a friend from her apartment building Jean. They
were not close friends but rather acquaintances, from passing in the halls to
the laundry room where they both would do their laundry. Jean seemed friendly
enough, and although Catherine did not like to go out much, at least by herself,
she agreed to venture out for a bite to eat. They had not stayed out too late;
9:00 P.M. for Catherine did have to work the next morning. When they approached
the apartment buildings entrance, Jean went her way and Catherine went hers. She
had not planned on the cold wind rushing in that night; she had only a light
sweater and a turtleneck long sleeve blouse, a pair of jeans and sneakers.
Usually Catherine went out prepared for most any possible change to her
routine, but not this night, September 16 Wednesday. Everything was but, a
routine that day.
Catherine had only a short
distance from the main entrance of the building to her apartment. She was
always aware of her surroundings, and felt uncomfortable not being able to see
clearly at night. Sometimes the shortest distance can seem forever. Just as
Catherine was about to enter her apartment she heard a slight noise coming from
the side of her building. Perhaps it was an animal scurrying through the
leaves. She had not wanted to find out and suddenly her knees went limp. She
found herself hurrying to get the key in the door to safety, her familiar
surroundings. However, because she was so afraid, she could not steady the key
long enough to open the door in time. When all of a sudden, the last thing
Catherine remembered was someone grabbing her from the back and placing a
clothed hand over her mouth.

Stage 1: Short story-Fiction pg 1/12
There was mystery that surrounded
Catherine
Stone. She was a quiet librarian in
Denver,
Colorado. At the age of 25, single
In
addition, no family to speak of, Catherine rarely went out.
She stood
5' 8" tall with a slender figure, brown hair,
as well as, brown eyes. She was pretty in a natural way.
She
dressed very plain and wore no makeup, just a trace of
Pink lip-gloss
she applied to her lips. Every day
she would follow a rigid

waking up.
At precisely 5 A.M. every morning
Catherine would
Rise and start the coffee maker.
Her kitchen was small and
It had no windows, or a table or a bench to
sit on.
Right outside the kitchen area, Catherine
set up a folding table with only one chair. While the coffee was brewing, she
would proceed to take a shower,
Make her bed and dress in the
clothes she laid out carefully each night before.
It seemed so ‘old school’ of her
at her young age. She would only have one piece of toast with one teaspoon of
peanut butter on it every morning.
For her lunch, she would pack a
sandwich consisting of tuna, which she shared with her cat Shedo, lettuce and a
pickle. One apple and a napkin all-fitting into a paper brown bag. Double-checking
to make sure the coffee machine was off; Catherine would gather her things and
head for the door.
On Clemens Street, Catherine
waited for her bus that would arrive at 6:45 A.M. Only twice in two years was it late in
arrival. She knew the bus driver on her route, Ted Lincoln who worked for the
transportation authority for twenty years. Ted would save her the same seat
every morning across from him, by placing his jacket and papers on it, so he
could small talk on her way into work. Ted was in his sixties, married to a
wonderful women name Ruth for 55 years of bliss he would say. He would refer to
her as his ‘bride’ when socially acknowledging her. As with Ted, Catherine also
was never late, in all the six years she took his bus to work, come rain or shine, sickness of health, Catherine was there, but that was about to change...

Working Online
Working Online is an explosive market of many different
types of programs. On part mostly there are scams, or wild
dreams of making riches over night.
But...there are some promising programs that anyone looking for work can't afford
to miss out on.
They are well versed in the explanation of procedures step by step.
You do have to work, not hard, but work all the same. These programs have done almost all the work for you, and have supplied the necessary tools right within their sites to get the jobs done right.
There are no monthly fees, and no additional fees once you join. There are a couple of
optional fees for things such as paid traffic, mailing lists to promote traffic, but that's about it. You don't even have to go that route if you so wish.
They have gathered their information extremely well and pleasant speaking videos that
are precise and very much with forethought.
I recommend these sites to anyone looking for additional work online.

When Darkness Overcomes...
You stand there
motionless
lack of remorse
confidence has overcome you
You place your hate
upon a plateau
believing that's who you answer to...
Blinded by your ignorance
no longer
excuses the truth
Your bloodless veins
feel nothing
for you have squandered
the lives of many
Impressed...
though we are not
you continue your escapade
in search of recognition
When it all comes tumbling down
beneath it you shall pay
that's how we all shall know you
as the fool of the day!

longevity of our love survives
well tested through and through
I'll brighten your eye
with red roses
a box of candy too...
not for reasons of grander
but to feel me smile at you...
You know me better
than anyone...
countless fights and stubbornness
it's my way or the highway...
I bemuse to you
You've battled it out
and stood your ground
instinctively showing me
your wiser than an oak tree
and completely tuned into me...
I wouldn't be with another
and risk my losing you
for my heart is true and bubbling over
with eyes only for you.

Carpe diem
You wake up one morning
and you realize
you've been planning
all the wrong things in life...
You have followed
the pattern
that most people have
and although wonderful...
you sense that you have
not lived yet...
You cover the grays
you shed some pounds
you prepare again
for a new avenue...
Don't misinterpret
the signs as they grew...
the roses in bloom
the coffee that loomed...
We all think we can live forever...
Choose the view
it's not something new
say what you feel
today, not in a dream
of one day...
The only thing
that lives on forever
are your notions
that they do.

Open your eyes now...
It wasn't so much
the words that you said
it was the way that you said them...
No concept of the pain
that they caused,
questionable obliviousness
comes to mind
Your lack of inability
to look beyond your own sphere
is not age related,
it is a chosen destruction
sealing it later by a blowing a kiss...
To hide your head
within the sand
won't make it go away...
you can't erase the damage done
or wish it could be better
Just answer the questions
directed to you
and all could be averted...
life isn't this complicated
It is the silence....you choose
to placate.

Don't Take What's Not Yours!
You can try
but you won't succeed
trailing on the tails of others
No free rides
from you
can bother me
You stand so small
hurdled behind the scenes
thinking you're so cool...
You have no presence
in front or behind the curtain
still small as far as the eye can see
So wander on and play
your little games to fame
the amusement falls only on you.

Appreciating The Good
Winter and its beauty....yes it is out there through all that cold and snow. This picture was taken right after a long winter storm last year.
Can not say the same for this year thus far...
Not many sunny skies have we seen this winter, and many people are dreaming of sunny white beaches.
School vacation is coming up and for those with children off from school perhaps your
dream is closer than you think...
But book your trips soon as any good deals run out fast! Many have already slipped through your fingers a month ago or more.
While letting the stress run off your back, remember to see the beauty that is still around you. With all the bad news going on a daily basis around us, we need to remember the good. Maybe it will help us to have strength to fight for it harder! And be more aware of those around you...seriously, we need to!

Starting Over
Will you follow me
into the depths
where trust is still the key
where letting go
is everything
you've fought so hard
to be...
Where looking back
is in the past
and forward it's just me
Will you be able
to surrender
the walls that bind
us together...
As naked as a spoken breeze
less silence sets us free.

My Soulmate
Without you
I am missing
the other half that
compels me to search
for more...
To accept
what I cannot do
but asserts me
to dive into waters
I thought once impossible
While sitting close
and pushing me along
not fear I perceive but a
confidence you knew I proclaimed...
I feel as though
I've grown ten feet tall...
and it is you, that supports me through
that lends a hand and smiles a lot
without you...
I wish not to think
the endless possibilities
not taken.

Self engage
Awareness...
knowing you're there
calculating your every move
the way you play your games
manipulation...
preying on the innocent
enough to entertain yourself
for giggles, poor soul how empty you
must be...
feeling content of the moment
with yourself
hiding behind that sullen glee
anger that you've created
contempt wading in the shadows
battles with no rivalries
walk away feeling smug
leaving your victims
distraught...
but much to your amaze,
they carry on even stronger
while you waddle in your pity
nothing learned, just hollow thought
manipulators lie in wait...

Always Be A Part Of Me
The weathered old furniture about me,
stained of wine and undone seams...
falling apart and breaking down
old remnants just like me...
Dust has gathered and making me sneeze
all about the room except beneath the coverings
Faded curtains hanging frail
This old house and it's memories prevail...
Once filled with laughter
and tears of fear
as ancient relics fall to despair...
Scents that attempt
to tantalize my nose
vaguely triggering thoughts past gone...
Yielding in a way
that has brought me here today
preparing for the sad goodbyes
that God has sent my way
Indulgent in the moments
this ole friend named house
feeling the ghosts that wander the halls
laid to rest, but stayed like pests...
Goodbye my friend
that once sheltered me
the time has come to pass on this deed.
